Local Outreach

Community of Gratitude

The Community of Gratitude Emergency Food Center is located in Ocklawaha, Florida. This pantry plays an active role in supporting the community by offering canned and dry groceries, fresh fruits and vegetables, and frozen meats to families in need in the local community. For many years the Trinity Lutheran congregation has taken part in supporting the mission at the heart of the Community of Gratitude with both food and financial support. As we continue to help feed local families in need, please drop off your food donations in the Narthex on Saturday or Sunday and volunteers will deliver them to the food center during the week. You may also drop them off at the church’s administrative office during normal business hours.

If you care to contribute financially, donations may be sent directly to P.O. Box 2021, Ocklawaha, FL 32183. For more information, contact Jim and/or Nancy Steinmark at (352) 299-0606.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

The Prayer Shawl Ministry is a small group of ladies who love to knit and crochet shawls to share God's love with those in need.  The prayer shawls are received by the church congregation, prayed over, blessed, and then distributed.

If you knit or crochet, we welcome you to join us and help us bring comfort to those experiencing times of sorrow or difficulty.

If you do not knit or crochet, please consider donating. You can drop off your donations at the church in room four and label them Prayer Shawl Ministry.

We meet every fourth Monday at 9:30 a.m. in room one. For more information, please contact Wanda David at (219) 508-5847 or Darlene Baney at (419) 367-0373.

Scrappy Quilters

The Scrappy Quilters is a small group of ladies who meet or work from home to create quilts, walker bags, hope pillow covers, crib sheets, dog and cat beds, burp cloths, bibs, and knit hats.

We distribute the items we create to veteran's hospitals, veterinary clinics, animal shelters, Alpha Center for Women, Give Kids The World Village, Infant and Toddler Pantry, and children of the Ocala National Forest to name a few. We also gift our creations to members of our own congregation who are in need of the comfort of a quilt or walker bag will bring.  We also have an ingathering of Christmas stocking fillers for the children of the Ocala forest.

The need is great, but the workers are few.  We could use a hand with sewing, cutting, pressing, pinning, organizing, quilt tying, distributing, planning quilt tops and prayer.

If you are interested in donating to this ministry, we need; fabric, sheets, pillowcases, curtains, thread and notions, etc.  Please bring your donations to the church, leave them in room four and label them for Scrappy Quilters.

If you are interested in joining us, we meet every Friday from noon to 3:00 p.m. in room one.  For more information, please contact Sue Lehota at (330) 414-8406.
